Standard list of commonly used acronyms
A standard list of commonly used acronyms by the Department of Ocean Development, in the Alphabetical order is given in Annexure –I.
It has been
observed that various national research laboratories/academic institutions,
etc., and the attached offices/autonomous institutions under Department of
Ocean Development have been using units/symbols while collecting and presenting
data on various aspects of Ocean Science and Technology and also when
submitting the reports to the Department. For ensuring uniformity in the
methodology adopted for studying various oceanographic parameters and
presenting their data and the units/symbols used for various parameters, a list
of such units/symbols/methodology which are internationally accepted and used
are given in the Annexure - II. Henceforth, all the institutes/academic
institutions/national research laboratories, the attached offices of DOD (ICMAM
and CMLRE) and the autonomous institutions should use only the units and
symbols indicated in the Annexure -II.
